We invite all parents to attend our Monthly School Leadership Team Meeting.
Monthly meeting are held on the third Thursday at 2:30 p.m. of each month, unless such dates fall on a legal or religious holiday, in such instances, the meeting shall be held on the following Thursday or previous Thursday of that particular month as determined by the board members, and as per BYLAWS.

All members of the SLT were present at the meeting.
Mr. Aggoub – Principal Report:
- Parents and new staff member’s introduction
- Review Chancellors 4 Pillars for Building Trust — student and family centered
- Review the Chancellor Priorities, CEP Goals - student and family centered (learn to read well; physically and emotionally safe; high quality academic experience; graduate college and career ready; inclusive and responsive for parents and families)
- District 27 Focus - Capacity Building Structures - Priorities for Leader and Teacher Development. Ensure understanding “buckets” in regards to Danielson including planning, preparation and data
- Review the schools Vision, Mission, Priority Focus and Instructional Focus which make student achievement, high quality instruction in ELA and math, data usage and equitable for all a priority.
- State exams - ELA - scoring 3s & 4s +3% from last year (38) Math - scoring 3s & 4s +18% from last year (45).
- Instruction should use data to meet student needs.
- Review the Uniform Policy meets Chancellor’s Regulations
- Upcoming Events for October including wear pink & donate $1, Pink Pancakes, Red Ribbon Week, Parent Teacher Conferences.
- The CEP (Comprehensive Education Plan) is discussed amongst the team, sent to district, revised and edited until it is approved.
- Communication and teamwork - encourage parents to have a voice for their concerns with staff and administration (as in their feelings towards uniforms). Some funds from Students in Temporary Housing were used to purchase uniforms for families in need of assistance.
- Access to iPlan portal
- Assessments for data - BOY, Screeners, F&P, State exams
- K-5 Math and HMH K-2 ELA
- LETRS Training for Kindergarten teachers

- Introduce the Team positions:

Mrs. Del Valle welcomed everyone to the team and spoke about the CEP and SLT.
Mrs. Mosquea
- School mascot on shirts - possible School Spirit Day on Fridays
- PTC are now hybrid, suggest we have it in person.
- Goals should be in alignment with the Chancellor’s priorities - emphasis on #5 “Redesign the system to be more inclusive and responsive for parents and families, including having more families choose NYC Public Schools.”
- Revisit last year survey for new initiatives - possibly send out a new one.
- Ideas to get more parents involved in PTA meetings.
Ms. Mele spoke about:

Principals Report:
- Review Chancellor’s 4 Pillars
- Review the District Vision
- School Vision around areas of instruction. Instruction in-line with the district and the chancellor. K5 Math and HMH.
- CEP Goals 2023 - 2024. How the school is progress monitoring each goal, parent participation and student attendance,
PARENT ENGAGEMENT:
- Mrs, Mele - PTA President – share ideas include a family brunch & community day
- Ms. Elkers – share events to discuss curriculum
- Mrs. Mosquea - parent read aloud
- Mrs. Rivera - newsletters, mystery reader, workshops. Survey parents about workshops they would like.
- Mrs. Del Valle - plan ahead for the same day each month.
- Mr. Aggoub - Monthly walks for a cause.
- Monthly events - Intentional and collaborative.
- Engaging ways to invite parents. Utilize the student council to send notices. Texting app (Remind, DOE Messaging)
PTA REPORT:
Ms. Mele spoke about upcoming events and what was voted on at the last PTA meeting:
- $70 to the school fundraiser for breast cancer
- $150 for a pin press for students
- $25 gift cards for families.
- Raffles $50 each basket for holidays.
- School store to open
PAC REPORT:
- Mrs. Vargas - people vote for virtual meetings - will ask again for in-person meetings. Money has been spent on Thanksgiving Book Package, Holiday Craft, Flashcards and Dice for upper and lower grades for math workshop,18 people attended the meeting.
- Mrs. Ali - we still need a Financial Liaison and Time keeper. Ms. Del Valle will take the position of Financial Liaison and time keeper

Ms. Stuart read the last meeting's minutes - approved by Ms. Morelli
- Mr. Aggoub – welcome – review 3 buckets
- Call to action developing content knowledge and monitoring progress using 3 screeners (assess growth) test simulations, standardized tests (assess meeting standards).
- K-5 Math – consult – best practices in and out of school
- Fluency centers aligned to the needs of students.
- HMH used by K-2 this year. PD will be offered in HMH.
- All members added to iPlan
- Parent events included Mystery Parent Reader 3rd Friday of each month. Younger grades made gingerbread houses with parents and had a huge turnout.
- Attendance in younger grades is lower causing a gap in education by 3rd grade
- Word problems – some only using numbers and don’t know why they using certain operations – Number Talks
- Mrs. A. Rodriguez – in regards to testing – test in native language – explain math and word problems in native language – tips for parents
- Mrs. Rivera – Success Mentors – chronic absence – make a connection with the child and parents.
- PTA NEWS – Mrs. Mele - $2000 from the holiday sale. School stores start January 9th on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch period
- No PAC report – Isabel was not in attendance.
- Mrs. A Rodriguez – Civics 4 ALL – participatory budgeting – uses funds to create a project to better the school. $3500. Find a problem and solution to better our school. Student Council project. Create a survey for students. Civics 4ALL week in March. Materials will be purchased from DOE vendors and the project will be completed in June. SLT is part of the steering committee.
- Mrs. Rivera – more parent engagement events monthly. College Awareness Day – door decorating contest.
- Other ideas for parent engagement include a college fair, adult continuing education, read aloud with follow up activities Stuart, invite parents for Learning Buddies (Morelli).
- We will review the budget during the January meeting.

Budget Overview
- Galaxy - majority of the money is salary $8 million.
- Allocations based on student numbers - projection for the year.
- ENL, IEP, extra services - more funding based on Fair Student Funding
- Title 1 school - extra activities, certain materials, 1% parent engagement - $3,131
- No more federal Covid 19 funding. Strategic spending to max use of funds.
PTA

- Valentines Raffle - 2 tickets for $1 - drawing February 14th
